Tamil films

Any one going near the theatre running Thiruppaachi has to forget the word logic and its meaning and then you might enjoy the film. Note the word "might".

Ok ! It totally surprises me how the so called directors claim (much before the film is released) that the film is going to be another great hit. Another usual phrase thats present in all their interviews is that the story is familiar but the way its going to be told will be unexpected. I feel like asking all those directors what unexpected twist that they were talikng about.

The last two months have been very bad for me in films. Particularly all Sundays. Thanks to Bose, Aey , Chatrapthi, Aayudham and Thirupaachi. Coming back to Thiruppaachi. Not sure even the fans of Vijay would say that this is another great movie from "Ilaya thalapathi".

Vijay as usual a calm guy for the first half and becomes volatile and kills almost all the dons in Chennai and escapes with a small punishment( the subtitle reads "siriya thandanaikku piragu") ! Phew! I was bombed. Only Tamil directors would be able to give this kind of mind blowing entertainers.

I would not do justice if I dont mention Kakka Kakka, Pithamagan, Kaadhal Kondaen, Kaadhal etc. No explanation is needed. The titles speak for themselves.

Looking back Dec 26th 2004

This is in someway an important post for me(this is my first). I have always wanted to start everything very optimistically but for us this New Year wasn't so. Thanks to Tsunami. Its has left its mark which is going to stay for a long long time etched in our life.

So I start this from Dec 26th. Since it was Christmas I was at Thanjavur which is my home town. I was planning a trip to Velankanni on the 26th as it was also a Sunday. My habit of late-rising saved me. I didn't not understand the impact till 27th evening when I was coming back to Bangalore by train when I had a chance to speak to some of the survivors.

They have seen so much on those two days that their own loss was not bothering them. A middle aged man near me mentioned "we are all fine except my uncle and his son"(they were washed away in front of him). It was a flat statement without any emotions. My jaw dropped. Two waves(if I am right) is what has taken to change the lives of thousands of people. See how powerful our mother Nature is!

Whatever has happened, one thing is for sure. This has sure made me sit and think what life has given me and when will it ask for the same in return. This has made me love my life. Whatever I do!

More to come on Tsunami in Tamil Nadu.
